Letter # 2 From Harold B. Estes

I posted Harold's first letter here so it's only fitting that I post his second one.

Randy

Dear Mr. President:

This is a second letter to you. Because of the first letter I wrote to you, I got hundreds of responses asking if I would write a second letter. So I am writing again to express my concerns again as a citizen of the United States of America . I am trying not to talk down to you because you are the President of the United States even though you are not acting like it. I looked at your face on Inauguration Day. I could tell you were proud. Then you immediately started saying things publicly that indicated deep down inside you are a Muslim. You will take advantage of the office of the United States of America . In my mind you will try everything you can to influence those in Congress toward your socialist view of government. That is wrong. Our government is a free government, by the people, for the people.

Mr. President, why don’t you just decide not to run for re-election? Don’t burden yourself with the heartbreak and the real sad time it is going to cause you. I am begging the Good Lord up above to save this great country that I love and served in the United States Navy. Don’t run for re-election.

Anyway, Mr. President, for a handsome man with a lovely wife and two lovely daughters, why burden yourself with what I’ve already stated? You are not an American as you are supposed to be. A true American would never have said publicly what you have said from the office you are occupying. What I’m really writing this letter for, Mr. President, is to urge you to be an American. Don’t try to urge any of the Congressmen to change our government to a socialistic type of government.

I served 24 years in the United States Navy. I wouldn’t trade this government for any other form of government no matter how good. The United States government is envied by the world because we are a free country. A guy like you can be elected to the office of the United States President because you live in America . The Democratic Party picked you to be the presidential candidate. Low and behold you got elected! You started off saying this country was not a Christian country. You started saying things that deep down you are a Muslim and would start changing our government. One statement that you and your wife made is that our country is not a Christian country. I resent that statement and take great offense to it. I fought for this country in two wars, World War II and the Korean War, and I believe in this country with all my heart and soul. I also believe in God with all my heart.

Mr. President, I am writing this second letter primarily to do what I would want someone to do if they were writing to me. You, I know, are going to be approached by the Democrats (and especially the liberal Democrats) to run for re-election. I’ve already received some calls from Democratic liberals and I am trying to get geared up to make sure that I do everything I can to urge you to be the American that the voters want. However, Mr. President, there is one thing that I will give you. I’m almost 100 years old or will be in the next 5 years. I will be around trying to head off someone who wants to change our government no matter if he (or she) is a Republican or a Democrat. I’ll be opposed to that person and I’ll be opposed to them outright. I am proud to be an American as you should be, too. I will defend the United States of America to my last breath.

I live at Ewa Beach which is near Pearl Harbor where our men and women gave their lives for America on that day of infamy. Every day you can go to Pearl Harbor where the USS Arizona Memorial is resting over that sunken battleship. You can feel the pride and honor that is there. Then you can go to Ford Island to the base to visit the USS Missouri battleship. The Mighty Mo is dear to my heart. You see, I was the one who had the idea to bring her back to Pearl Harbor for her final resting place after she was decommissioned so she could be a tourist attraction and stand as a living memorial to all who died in World War II. She stands proudly in the harbor. It is a privilege to walk her decks, listen to the stories of her battles and stand where General MacArthur signed the declaration to end the war with the Japanese while she was in Tokyo Bay . Look at the pictures. See where the kamikaze pilot hit her side and left his mark. These are America ’s reminders of the sacrifices made by the husbands, fathers, sons, wives, mothers and daughters who gave their lives that we can be free. Please don’t ruin our American right to freedom. It was bought with a price which those of us in the military gladly and honorably gave and continue to give.

Sincerely,

Harold B. Estes
