The drug company Somaxon has come out with a new drug called Silenor. From their ads: "Silenor is the first and only non-scheduled prescription sleep aid that is proven to provide patients with a full night's sleep, including sleep into the 7th and 8th hour."
The problem here is that Silenor is doxepin (Sinequan), a tricyclic antidepressant that has been sold in the U.S. since the 1960s. It makes you sleepy, because it is a strong antihistamine, and one of the side effects is sedation.
The rip-off? A month's supply of Silenor costs around $214.00. A month's supply of Doxepin costs $4.00 at Walmart. Pick the one you like best!

I'll go for Doxepin, thank you. That's a crazy price for a sleep drug
